Here we are, in the region of Hauts-de-France.  To break that down even further, we are staying in a small commune just out of Fruges, in the department of Pas-e-Calais.

Today, 6th January is exactly one week since we hopped off the train at Calais and arrived at Julie and Bill’s abode.  Our first weekend was filled with enjoyable social get-togethers and having a quick introduction to the local surrounding communes.  It has gone fast and we have certainly not once had too much time on our hands, actually the reverse!!  This is our fourth French housesit so we are quite familiar with going to supermarkets etc.  More importantly familiarising ourselves with the local Pâtisserie, it’s the small things in life!  As we have 3 months here I will write more about the different things that have stood out for us.  In the meantime, let’s start off with why we are here and that’s to care for 2 cats and 2 dogs and their home.

Our day starts off with an unusual alarm going off, this alarm clock is unusual in the fact that it needs feeding.  Let me introduce you to LouLou [left] and David [yes well not too many cats are named David and conceived in Dodge Stadium in the USA].

The other family members are Louie and Nellie, black siblings, full of energy and lovers of long walks.  More importantly, they now understand kiwi English.

It’s going to be an interesting 2 months and 3 weeks taking Louie and Nellie for long walks, checking out some local communes, visiting people we have met so far and just enjoying this small part of France.  Which hopefully you will all enjoy reading about.

Until the next instalment, I bid you

Bonne Nuit/Goodnight
